Commercial Engineer/QS
Breffni Air are a market-leading specialist contractor in mechanical and electrical installations, involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Commercial, Food Processing, Data Centres and Technology.
ROLE / ROLE DESCRIPTION:
This role is for a Commercial Engineer/QS to join our team in a senior commercial role to lead our Fab34 MOD 1 and MOD 2 Tool Install package works and support our broader works at the Intel Campus inclusive of the wider business.
As Commercial Engineer/QS for Tool Install, they will be responsible for;
- Measuring performance of works, including weekly completions and percentages completed versus programme
- Reviewing and updating weekly completions
- Maintaining our works trackers
- Pricing each Tool as called off by the client from the live schedule
- Pricing variation works, whether from agreed rates or working with the team to develop specific rates
- Raising and submitting our monthly claim
- Reviewing monthly claim and gaining agreement from client’s team of same
- Coordinate client team commercial interfaces
- Breakdown or monthly measured works to review performance of our subcontractors and direct employees, interrogating measured works and facilitating raising the purchase order for subcontractors to submit their invoices
- Ongoing review of labour and component rates and advising our team of areas of improvement
- Tracking of costs against installed works
- Tracking our workshop interfaces for materials and plant items
- Coordinate and communicate Tool Install package performance back to Lead QS and company management team
- Communicate with Head office, workshops, and other teams within the business to ensure best practices are applied across the business
- Review procedures and implement improvement plan
For the broader Intel Campus works, working with our broader commercial team and lead Quantity Surveyor to support our other works at the intel campus including;
- Supporting the monthly claim process
- Pricing variation works across the packages (often using existing rates and agreements as the basis)
- Measuring installed / live works by coordinating with our site teams and subcontractors to review performance
- Reviewing subcontractor performance monthly to ascertain their performance and raise PO’s for same
- Work with our lead Quantity Surveyor and project managers to coordinate and manage the broader intel scopes and accounts we are delivering
- Support the review of contract documents
- Support our AMHS (Automated Material Handling Systems) contracts accounts management
- Client interfaces management
Working with the wider business;
- Proposing and developing best practice where such opportunities are identified
- Work with our lead QS to develop junior staff skillset, plan their activities and recruit new staff where required
- Support the broader commercial reporting function and management accounting function
- Devise/ review/ propose improvements to commercial management systems in place when identified
- Work with other senior commercial management team members to cascade improvements and skills across the team
- Provide support to our European business region (where suitable) and provide similar support to our teams in this region
- Working with our Regional Managers and lead QS to continuously review and improve our activities
